Villa Balbianello is one of the most romantic and suggestive residences overlooking Lake Como, thanks to its position on the tip of Lavedo peninsula. Dating back to the 18th- century, in the past the villa hosted intellectuals and has been chosen as background by several Hollywood productions, such as 007 and Star Wars.

Nowadays, Balbianello is safeguarded by Fondo Ambiente Italiano – FAI. The villa is visited by tourists from all over the world, but it can be reserved for exclusive weddings involving a maximum of 150 guests.

Charming arrival by boat

Even from the lake you will be able to see the magnificent garden that surrounds the house: trees pruned into unusual shapes, avenues lined with statues, panoramic terraces and abundant blooms. Guests and newlyweds can arrive at the venue exclusively on a boat.

Balbianello is an ideal location where to celebrate weddings also for the different areas it offers, all scenic and open air. Being a museum, however, there are restrictions to be respected, especially during the opening hours to the public.

Wedding ceremony in Lake Como

About the wedding, the civil or symbolic ceremony can be held in the church square of the villa, or in the famous Loggia Durini. Instead, the Catholic rite has to be officiated in one of the nearby churches, such as the parish of Santo Stefano. After the ceremony, romantic couple shoots can be taken in the garden overlooking the lake.

The guests can then move to Terrazzo Canfora for an aperitif, while the reception in Loggia Segrè – intimate indoor space – or in Terrazza a Lago will gift the event with a magical atmosphere. In case of bad weather, two marquees sited in Terrazza a Lago are available to host the dinner. Balbianello doesn’t offer overnight accommodation, but there are many hotels in the area that guarantee high quality standards.
